Ulysses is a small agricultural city in southwestern Kansas. School bands, church choirs, and local cover bands provide most music. Musicians from the Garden City area occasionally drive in for bar gigs and private events. Most performances are tied to community festivals.

Gigs happen at local bars and restaurants, church fellowship halls, the community center, and the high school auditorium. County fairgrounds and park pavilions host summer events. There are no dedicated concert venues, so performances are informal.

Local and regional artists are the main performers here, though musicians from the nearby Garden City scene occasionally pass through.

Musicians should join the school band or a church choir and ask the community center about open mic nights and talent shows. Driving to Garden City offers more regular gigs. Recording a short demo at home is a practical first step.
