Bolivar is a small city in southwest Missouri anchored by Southwest Baptist University. The college brings choral and instrumental music, while the surrounding rural area supports country and gospel traditions.

University chapels and the high school auditorium host concerts and recitals. A few downtown restaurants and bars book acoustic and cover acts, and the county fairgrounds feature live music in season.

Local and regional artists perform here, with musicians from the nearby Springfield scene occasionally passing through.
