China Grove is a small town in Rowan County, North Carolina, between Charlotte and the Piedmont Triad. Country, gospel, and school band music dominate, with church choirs and high school ensembles providing steady performance opportunities throughout the year.

Music occurs at the high school auditorium, local Baptist and Methodist church halls, the town community center, and small restaurants along Main Street. The county fair brings regional cover bands to town.

Local and regional artists perform here, with musicians from the nearby Charlotte scene occasionally passing through.

New players should join the school band or a church choir, then look for open mic nights in nearby Salisbury and Kannapolis. Charlotte and Winston-Salem are the closest cities with regular paying venues.
