Dayton is a small city northeast of Houston, where rural and suburban growth meet. School bands, church choirs, and local bars with country and rock cover bands form the core of local music. Houston area musicians drive east for private parties and casual gigs.

Gigs can be found at the high school auditorium, community center, American Legion hall, county fairgrounds, and local bars and restaurants. Dayton has no dedicated concert venue.

Local and regional artists perform here, with musicians from the nearby Houston scene occasionally passing through.

Start with the school music program, check the community center bulletin board, and ask local restaurants about acoustic nights. Regular paid work usually means driving into the Houston metro area.
