New Boston is a small northeast Texas town, the county seat of Bowie County, with railroad and farming roots. Music life includes school bands, church choirs, country cover bands at local bars, and county fair talent contests. Texarkana musicians frequently drive west.

Music is heard at the high school auditorium, church fellowship halls, local bars and restaurants, the American Legion post, and the county fairgrounds. New Boston has no dedicated live-music venue, so community spaces host the performances.
