General Disclaimer

What we promise

We will run the service with reasonable care. We will host your listings, deliver your messages, and protect your account credentials using industry-standard practices. When you report a violation, we will investigate and act on clear-cut cases within a few business days. When we change the service in a material way, we will tell active members by email at least 14 days before the change takes effect.

What we do not promise

We do not promise that you will find a band, a bandmate, a gig, or any other specific outcome from using Bandmate. We do not guarantee that other members will respond to your messages, that their listings will be accurate, or that they will behave reasonably. Bandmate is a directory — a meeting place — not a talent agency, employer, or screening service. The conversations, audition logistics, and commitments that follow a meeting on Bandmate are between the people involved.

Listings on Bandmate are posted by other members. We review listings for obvious abuse (spam, scams, harassment), but we do not fact-check every claim about a member's experience, gear, or availability. If something a member posts turns out to be inaccurate, that's a matter between you and that member; we are not a guarantor of listings.

Your responsibility

When you meet another member through Bandmate, you are responsible for protecting yourself the way you would in any other context. Meet for the first time in a public place. Bring your own gear (or confirm what's provided). Verify what was described in the listing before you commit time, money, or travel. Use a written agreement for any paid arrangement, especially if it involves multiple sessions or a deposit.

Bandmate does not run an escrow service. Do not send money (especially wire transfers, gift cards, or cryptocurrency) to secure a "slot," "hold a spot," or "confirm interest" before you have met and verified the other party. If someone pressures you in any way that doesn't feel right, end the conversation and report the listing from the listing page or by emailing abuse@bandmate.co.

Third-party links

Some listings may include links to external sites — SoundCloud, Bandcamp, YouTube, a personal website. Those sites are not operated by Bandmate. Once you click through, you are subject to the privacy practices and terms of the destination site. We do not endorse, sponsor, or guarantee the content of any external site linked from a Bandmate listing.

Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold Bandmate (and its parent X Enterprises, LLC, and its officers, employees, and contractors) harmless from any claim arising out of your use of the service, your listings, your communications with other members, or your violation of these Terms. This means that if a third party sues us over something you did on the site, you will cover the reasonable costs of defending that suit.

Reporting abusive listings

If a listing is fraudulent, harassing, threatening, or otherwise in violation of our Terms, please report it. Use the "Report" link on the listing page, or email abuse@bandmate.co with the listing URL and a short description. We aim to acknowledge abuse reports within one business day and resolve clear-cut violations within three business days.

Service availability

We try to keep Bandmate available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, but the service is provided "as is." Scheduled maintenance, upstream outages at our infrastructure providers, or events beyond our control may interrupt the service from time to time. We are not liable for losses caused by an outage, but we will post a status update at status.bandmate.co when something is down for more than a few minutes.
