What we collect when you opt in to text messages

To send you text messages we need your mobile phone number, and we store it with your account. We also keep a record of your opt-in consent (when and how you gave it), your opt-out preferences, and basic delivery data for each message — whether it was sent, delivered, or failed, and whether it went by RCS or fell back to SMS.

If you message us back — for example, replying STOP or HELP — we process the content of that reply only to act on your request.

How you opt in

We only send text messages to numbers that have explicitly opted in — for example, by entering your phone number in your Bandmate account settings and confirming it, or by checking an opt-in box that is not pre-checked. Opting in is always your choice: consent to receive text messages is never a condition of creating an account, using Bandmate, or making a purchase.

What we send and how often

Bandmate text messages are service messages, not advertising: account-security alerts (such as sign-in codes), and the notifications you turn on — for example, new replies to your listings, messages from other members, and gig or rehearsal reminders. Message frequency varies with your activity and the notifications you enable. You can turn categories on or off in your account settings at any time.

Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile plan. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. RCS is only available on supported devices and carriers; when it isn't available, messages are delivered as SMS instead. With RCS, delivery and read status may be visible to us and to your carrier, as with any messaging service.

How to opt out or get help

You can stop text messages at any time:

• Reply STOP to any message and we'll stop sending texts to that number (you may receive one final message confirming the opt-out).
• Or turn off mobile notifications — or remove your phone number entirely — in your account settings.

Reply HELP to any message for help, or email privacy@bandmate.co. Opting out of text messages does not affect your account or any emails we are required to send you about the service.

Who we share your mobile information with

We share your phone number and message content with the messaging provider(s) that deliver texts on our behalf, and with the mobile carriers involved in delivery — only so the messages can reach you. They process this information to provide the service, not for their own marketing.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties. We do not sell or rent your phone number to anyone.

How long we keep messaging data

Your phone number stays with your account until you remove it or close your account, after which it is deleted on the same schedule described in our Privacy Policy. Opt-out records are kept as long as needed to honor them and to demonstrate compliance, and message-delivery logs are retained for up to 12 months before being deleted or anonymized.
